Facts And Tidbits About DEB Host Jeff Schubert
Your friendly neighborhood host of Destination East Brunswick was…
Born: New York City, NY
Resides: Los Angeles, CA
Current job: (You mean when I’m not showcasing East Brunswick?!) Mental health rehabilitation specialist. (That’s a fancy title for Case Manager.) I work with duel diagnosed mentally ill adults in a crisis residential setting.
Favorite entertainment job: Host/Producer of Filmnut. I was very fortunate to work on this show. Had a lot of great guests. My two favorites were:
Favorite non-entertainment job: Massage Therapist. For me, giving a massage is like a moving meditation. Very grounding. I worked for The Sports Club LA (Since bought out by Equinox) and got to work on some celebs and athletes.
Relationship status: Single/ hetero.
Sports: Loved to play growing up, now mostly watch. Was awkward and uncoordinated as a kid due to sickness and injury, but thrived in a limited sense due to outworking others. Highlight: Co-Captain Varsity Basketball.
Favorite teams growing up: The New York Football Giants, New York Yankees, New York Knicks, and yes, I know it makes me a traitor and don’t tell my father, but I sold out and became a huge Michael Jordan/ Chicago Bulls fan!… Oh yeah, also dug the NY Rangers growing up (Potvin sucks!) but don’t follow hockey anymore.
Favorite Athletes: Phil Simms, Don Mattingly, Michael Jordan, Roger Federer. Tennis is an underrated warrior sport if you ask me.
Some things are hard to pick an absolute favorite for, so…
One of my favorite movies: Pulp Fiction. Awesome writing. Awesome cast. (One night I was watching the movie in a hotel room and fell off the bed I was laughing so hard!)
One of my favorite sitcoms: Seinfeld. At one time or another each of the four major cast members was my favorite.
One of my favorite one hour shows: Dexter (But like Seinfeld, the finale was a major disappointment). I think I may have identified a little too much with Dex!
One of my favorite movie quotes: “When you stop wanting what they can keep you from having, then you are free”. That comes from Denzel Washington from the movie, The Hurricane.
Favorite comic book character: Spiderman… (To spidey fans, I kind of gave that away with the opening sentence of this post) “With great power comes great responsibility”… Well at least in comic books!
My current diet: Flexitarian (leaning more towards the “itarian” than the “flex”.)
Do I exercise/workout? Absolutely! I often hit the gym between 4 & 6 in the morning, (thank you 24 hour fitness for being open!) I do cardio 5 to 6 times a week and light weight lifting 3 times a week.
Religion: Born Jewish, but am “spiritual, not religious”.
Politics: Next question.
Zodiac sign: Aquarius. I do not live my day to day life by astrology but I am a “believer”. Having said that, ignore Mercury Retrogrades at your own risk!
