My Closing Thoughts On Season One
I don’t mean to go all Jerry Springer on you but I want to share some closing thoughts on season one of Destination EB with you.
And the first thing that comes to mind is a conversation I had with Jerry Amabile from Creme Ridge Winery. First, Jerry might get the award for being the happiest working man I have ever been around. I remember saying to Jerry off camera, being in EB reminded me of when I lived in Denver. I came from New York City to go to college in Denver. It was a smaller less stressful city, but still had a ton of great things to do, and a lot of really nice people. That’s how I feel about East Brunswick. You have things to do there, you’re close to NYC, and Philadelphia, but it’s also very peaceful and friendly.
A personal take away for me is, it was great to get out and do fun things. I can get so caught up in my mental health job and my creative pursuits, which are great, but making time for things like martial arts, yoga, dance, going to a museum, theater, going to a freaking scary ass corn maze! These things can be rejuvenating.
One day when we were not shooting, I went with one of my producers to pick up her 7 year old daughter from school. Before we took her home, she played in the yard with the other children. I was watching the kids run, scream, and have fun… not a care in the world. And it reminded me how adults oftentimes forget how to play. Maybe not everyday. Maybe only once in awhile. But find time to play is the message. As my t-shirt in the yoga webisode says, find to time to, “let that shit go.” Find time to bring back past hobbies you love or to explore new ones that just might surprise you. Yeah yeah yeah, everyone’s busy… Find time.
With that I’ll conclude by saying I see season one of Destination EB as just a sample of what we can do, because there is so much more to discover! Thank you to all the great guests for helping to make season one happen! Thank you viewers for watching. And thank you Cee and Paul for bringing me on the show!
Until season 2 or whatever life has to offer next, let all of our discoveries continue!!
